Secrets to Goal Setting Revealed ... Part Three

"The tragedy of life is not that it ends so soon ... but that we wait so long to begin it"

Did the above quote make an impact on you? If it didn't, go back and read it over and over again until the meaning sinks in and you realise the power and impact of the above quote.

Have you begun to live your life as you really want it to be? Are you living your life with the fire, passions and fervour of a truly living person? Many people I know go through life living ... as a living dead. What do I mean? Do I mean they are zombies? Well, yes and no.

No because they are living people ... they are living humans ...

And yes because they live their lives almost like zombies ... They go through every single day of their lives without much purpose ... Everyday blurs into a monotonous, predictable routine that they aren't even excited about in the first place! They start to live life because they have to, not because they want to! Wow! Isn't that a big difference. Living life because you want to and not because you have to?

How many of you are truly happy being born into your current life and given the chance to live your life the way it is now? Well, if you're truly happy, that's great! But if you're not happy, you have two options:

  • You make a decision that you've had enough of your current life and you decide to start living life the way you want it
  • You make a decision that maybe this is the kind of life you are destined to lead since you were born into it and continue living life in the pits of financial and personal doldrums

Which did you choose? Whichever choice you made, life goes on! But the first option allows you to really begin to live life.

As for option 2, well ... one day you may just ask yourself why life is ending so soon.

"Why in the world is the author of this blog talking to me in such a way?"

If you're asking the above question, I presume you're new and I warmly welcome you to my blog. Pardon my frankness but my role for this blog is to make sure that readers get the benefits they are looking for and take action to make a difference in their lives. My role isn't to give the politically-correct niceties that you read about in so many other blogs.

Yes, the information may be hard-hitting and at times, bordering on blunt. But my wish is for every reader of my blog to benefit from what I share, take action on my knowledge and prosper massively.

I want to make sure my knowledge makes an impact in your lives ... I want to make sure that what I share sinks into your lives because I have been in that situation before! I used to live life because I had to ... but after learning the knowledge I'm now sharing with you, I was able to live life because I wanted to.

Isn't it nice to live life because you want to? Isn't it nice to live life the way you want it to be?

Then start to begin your life!

As for the other readers who have been following my blog all these while, I'm sure you know my style. I'm sure you know how much I want all of you to start making a difference in your lives. And thanks for being such loyal readers :)

Let's get down to the meat ...

Last week, I talked about the importance of pain and pleasure in goal setting. If you didn't read my last post, I strongly urge you to go back and read that last post.

The next step in goal setting is to answer this question:

What is most important to you in your life?

Why is this important?

Because you need to relate your goals to what's most important to you in your life! Last week we talked about motivation. Knowing what's important to you in your life is also a very important form of motivation.

Some people value their family

Others value recognition

Still others value their health

Yet still others value achievement

What's yours? What's most important to you in your life? When you can make an association between your reasons for setting your goals and what's important to you, you make an instant linkage to propelling yourself forward because you know that achieving your goals will help you achieve what's important to you in your life!

Isn't that powerful? If you didn't understand the above paragraph, go back and re-read it again. Truly comprehending and grasping the essence of the previous paragraph alone could be worth millions and make you a true business entrepreneur!

You also need to relate your pains and pleasures to what's most important to you in your life. What do I mean?

Let's look at this scenario as an illustration ...

Let's say you value your family as the most important in your life. If the pain of not achieving your goal is not to watch a movie for 6 months, is that painful enough to make you go all out for your goal? Probably not, because it's totally not connected to what's most important to you. But if the pain of not achieving your goal is not being able to see your loved ones for 6 months, is that much more painful to you? Would it push you to go all out for your goals?

Are you starting to see the power of associating your goals and their pains and pleasures to what's most important to you? Can you see how it will propel you to take action and go all out? Can you see how this simple but often belittled nugget of gold can help you attract the wealth that you desire?

Make the association between your goals and what's most important to you and let the magic start to work for you.

Carpe Diem ... Seize the Day!
